Scream to Scream, Scene by Scene: SCENE 14 of Scream (0:43:23-0:44:03)

I like how this very brief scene continues on the "Principal Himbry is a creep, is he a suspect?" line that seems to go DING! everytime he is on screen. It does, however, make a nifty reference to the possibility of two killers.


Just listen to the sound work during this scene. Those scissors are wild! They make so many SHWING and SHYUSH sounds that you'd think someone got a bit worked up in the sound editing booth. It's like how when a character swings a knife through the air and it somehow makes that very audible sound. Slicing through air is noisy work.


That there is Ryan Kennedy as "Expelled Teen #2" and while I wish I could report that this tiny role was the beginning of a career it most certainly was not. He only had one credit before Scream and that was Francis Ford Coppola's Jack - terrible movie, but when your first two movies are directed by Coppola and Craven you're on to a good thing - but after that appeared in an episode of Nash Bridges and two movies, Abandon which came around during that "Katie Holmes likes making shit teen-thrillers" phase that also included Disturbing Behaviour and Teaching Mrs Tingle, and $windle, which I had never heard of before. Just last year he appeared in the pilot of Trauma, whatever that is, and other than that it's nada.


Now this, on the other hand, is Troy Bishop as "Expelled Teen #1" and he has at least worked a little bit more than Mr Kennedy up there. Some TV series here or there including an episode of Nash Bridges, but not the same one as Ryan Kennedy. Then parts of various sizes in a few movies.


This is just my favourite shot of the scene so I wanted to include it. Love the three levels of focus. Henry Winkler really does go to town with those scissors though, doesn't he?!?
