"Isabelle Huppert is the poor man's Katherine Heigl"

Don't worry, I haven't gone completely insane. No, that quote in the headline is merely a joke comment made in one of the many hilarious Twitter exchanges I find myself intertwined with. Between myself, Mathieu Ravier, Transmission film distribution and good mate Simon we found us jokingly inventing a new romantic comedy directed by Austrian loon Michael Haneke and starring Isabelle Huppert. Can't you just see it now? It'd be like The Ugly Truth, but really, really ugly. Like, you won't see Katherine Heigl slice off her genitals with a razor blade in one of her movies, although they may give you the desire to.

But seriously, it's great that Australia has distributors like Transmission (and Madman, Umbrella, Potential, etc etc) that are willing to release product like this. Australia may still be a country where nobody - NOBODY! - wants to release Lena Dunham's Tiny Furniture, but at least the auteurs will always have a home. Although, if Haneke makes a movie like the one described above we may need to have a quiet word...
