Wolfgang Amadeus Trailer

No, the life of Amadeus isn't getting another spin on the big screen, but this is in fact the trailer for a new documentary about French pop group Phoenix, From a Mess to the Masses. The 2009 album that Antoine Wagner's documentary covers, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, is incredible and I hope you've all heard it! The documentary looks - as in, technically looks - fantastic and, well, at least we know the music will be great! Will Sofia Coppola pop up? I hope so! Whenever I hear those strums on "Love Like a Sunset" (parts 1 and 2) I immediately recall the blissful melancholia of Coppola's divine Somewhere.

TwentyFourBit says the film premieres of European TV this week, but unless it gets the same treatment here, I am sure Masses will pop up on some film festivals in the future. These sort of documentaries about well-known personalities always do well on the festival circuit even if they're not very good. The film will be praiseworthy simply if it features a proper HQ version of the cameo by fellow Frenchmen Daft Punk, which featured at Phoenix's Madison Square Garden gig in October 2010. I can see a cameraman running around during the performance so here's hoping!

Watch the trailer below.
