Scream 4! Australian Exclusive! Trailer! Watch! Can't Breathe!

For some reason, one unknown to me, Australian Scream fans have gotten a look at an official teaser trailer of sorts for Scream 4 before anyone else in the world. This ain't some video filmed on a mobile phone at an awards show with screaming audiences in the background, it is an actual HQ trailer that the studio has released. Now, it's an exclusive look over at YourMovies.com.au so anybody who is not located in this lovely country of mine shouldn't bother (although I've since heard that UK residents can also view it so maybe it's not so country locked).

A decent medium quality version has shown up on YouTube, which you can watch below, and I would certainly rather watch it on there than the constantly buffering (ugh, is "buffering" not one of the worst things about the internet?) video player that the YourMovies website uses.

This teaser goes much more into the Scream traditions that we know and love. Rory Culkin and Erik Knudsen seem to be doing their best Randy Meeks and explaining the rules to a classroom (that include Sidney Prescott!) and, it appears, virgins can die and death scenes must be "way more extreme" (which I guess is different to "much more elaborate", one of Randy's rules from Scream 2). We also get to see more of the banter than the franchise is known for. I particularly like that dialogue exchange at the end "It's for you."

And, look, Veronica Mars Kristen Bell speaks! I still can't quite tell whether she and Anna Paquin are in the "Scream Universe" or the "Stab Universe", but it's fun to speculate. Meanwhile, I earlier suspected that the woman in gray was Ms Bell, but now I'm not sure. Another woman is seen putting a gray top on, but it isn't long sleeve. Oh my, see! This is what happens to me. I spend far too long going over every frame, even so far as to read far too much into whether someone is wearing a long or short sleeved top. Of course, everyone can tell who the opening victim is from the trailers because it is the one person whose costume never changes. Perhaps they have grown wise and are doing things to not make it so obvious.

If I have one complaint (okay, too) it's that, firstly, Gale's big moment of "Go ahead if you've got the guts" was such an awesome way to end any footage. Secondly, this whole "version 2.0"/"next step is psycho slasher innovation" is a bit silly, no? I thought we'd gotten past this whole reality TV-in-horror stuff. Hopefully its utilised a bit better here than, say, Halloween: Resurrection (not that that should be at all hard).

The big nagging question at the end of all of this though is... who is that falling on the news van during the press conference? That looks like a doozy of a way to go!

By the way, I am perfectly aware that I am talking about this movie too much, but what can I say? I'm a Scream fanboy of the highest order. This is my Scott Pilgrim or Batman. Be like Mandy Moore and learn how to deal!

Watching this at 2 frames per second was pianful, but whatever. That looks good, very good, but I'm also not convinced about "version 2.0"/"next step is psycho slasher innovation", but we'll se where they go with it.

You are NOT talking about Scream too much Glenn! Don't let anybody tell you that. You're the first place I'm coming to for Scream news right now and you haven't disappointed yet.

It's a long fucking wait til April, isn't it? Are you guys getting it the same time as us?

My money is on Allison Brie being the one taking a dive.

Ok...it TOTALLY is. B/c you (I think) can see her running through a parking garage in that same outfit later in the trailer!

RJ, I don't know if it's Brie. Brie is clearly wearing a bright yellow jacket from the looks of it, but the person falling is wearing a white/beige jacket.

the woman in the grey top is brittany robertson, one of the suspected opening victims, and the woman thrown at the van is rebecca, sid's assistant.

Brittany Robertson? Who the hell is that? Everyone keeps saying all these people are the opening act and yet has anyone outside of, maybe, the 2mil who watch CW know who they are? You can't return to a series like this that is known for a name victim in the opening scene and return with... Brittany Robertson?

ARE THESE REAL?

You can do it with "Brittney Robenson" if done right. Apparantly, her, another girl, Lucy Hale and Lauren... cant think of her last name, Anna Paquin and Kristen bell are all involved with the beginning. All 6 of these girls were hired within the last month of filming sooooo? I feel like this opening is going to be bat shit crazy.

Anthony, not "apparently". That's just assumptions made by Scream watchers. Trust me, NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING.

Fernando, no they're not. The only official artwork released is the teaser poster featuring the big Ghostface mask.

Good to know because I didn't like them...

Did the brunette at the end ("It's for you"), in facial expression, body language, and attitude, remind anyone besides me of Tatum?
