"Let's rent an adult video, drink mimosas and french kiss the pillo's"
Estelle Getty in 2008, Bea Arthur in 2009 and now Rue McClanahan in 2010. If I were Betty White I'd be living this year up as much as I could because the signs are not too bright for 2011.
Waking up to the news of the death of someone like Rue McClanahan is not an ideal way to start the day. As "Blanche Devereaux" on The Golden Girls, Rue was always wildly hysterical. Watching the compilation clip below will make you certain of that even if, as you watch the show, you find the other three making more assertive claims at best-in-show. One of my favourite Blanche-centric episodes is "Sisters and Other Strangers" from season five in which Blanche's sister write's a novel that she thinks is really all about her. Watch this clip and tell me she wasn't comically golden between 2:38-4.17 She was like a pearly drop of morning due on the delicate bosom of a spring flower blossom and may she RIP.
