War and Happiness

I showed you the newly released poster for Todd Solondz' Happiness quasi-sequel Life During Wartime the other and now comes the trailer. It sounds very much like a Todd Solondz movie, but looks far more polished that usual. Loving the cast - Alison Janney and Ciaran Hinds looks particularly stellar while Shirley Henderson and Ally Sheedy seem to be perfectly cast in the roles originated by Jane Adams and Lara Flynn Boyle.

I'm so looking forward to this movie!

Even a Solondz mis-fire (if such a creature exists) is better than 99% of what makes it to the big screen. On the surface though, if you didn't know better, you'd think this was just another quirky indie comedy, going by that clip - especially the folksie tune playing throughout.

As I wrote in the entry about the poster, I think Palindromes is a misfire. Quite a big one. But it is still more interesting to think about than most films.

I hope the trailer convinces some people to go see it that otherwise normally wouldn't if they knew it was all about paedophiles and such.
