AFI Wrap Up

Friday and Saturday nights over this past weekend saw the AFI Awards be held here in Melbourne. You can read my thoughts on the night and the winners at a couple of places, none of which are this very blog. Strange. Click on over to Onya Mag for a look at the night with red carpet photos and a look at the ceremony in general. You can then click to The Film Experience for a rundown of most of the winners and a look at how the wins effect Oscar chances for Samson & Delilah (Foreign Language Film), Mary and Max (Animated Feature), The Cat Piano (Animated Short) and Miracle Fish (Live Action Short).

Ta da.

Glenn, i have a question regarding Balibo's Best Adapted Screenplay nod. I remember reading that the initial script was written by Williamson & then Connelly make some changes to this script, and hence they become co-writers? Well there must be some tension given Connelly barely referenced the fact that it was "co-written" in his afi speech.

I can't say I even noticed, the screenplay was - I thought - the weakest part of Balibo though, so there may be something to it.

Yes there is tension. DW wrote it but pretty much RC did a page 1 rewrite. But guess if you hire DW, his name stays on the paper
