I wanted to mention the passing of one of Australian cinema's greatest actors: Mr Percival, the pelican from Storm Boy. Everyone's favourite pelican, and the one that the movie marketing people would say "touched our hearts" (which would hurt, because pelicans looks dangerous), Mr Percival was the lone returning bird of the flock that features in the 1976 film Storm Boy.
Storm Boy is one of "those" movies. Seemingly everyone has seen it, and if they haven't they think they have. While obviously not as common these days, Storm Boy was one of the films that Aussie kids grew up with. It was based on the book by Colin Thiele, who passed away in 2006, and starred Greg Rowe, David Gulpilil and Peter Cummins. I love how the poster, seen below, even features a credit for Mr Percival. He was one of the stars, okay!
I'd also like to direct you towards this hilarious piece about the movie over Outland Institute.
