I Am Without Speech

Anyone who follows the writings here at Stale Popcorn will be aware that the following poster commits three cardinal sins of key art design (according to moi). I don't have time to do a lengthy piece about it, but the proof is in the metaphorical pudding. When will they learn?

Names the wrong way around; too much white space; boring font?

I think it has more...

- Boring title
- Boring font
- Boring slogan («They've got a long way to go» is such a cliché)
- Lots of blank, empty space
- Big, boring still as central image
- Annoying symmetry in the image
...

Whatever. 60% of Hollywood art designers should be fired for thinking they have done a good job.

Justin Timberlake looks haggard!

Okay, I've got two: the white space and the names not aligning with the actors' heads. Other than the fact that it's a godawful poster, what's the third?

empty white space, switched names and...? what am I missing? (or is it just being bad the third sin?)

The big empty white space is one. Named switched around is another. The third, despite all the good ones Jorge mentioned, is actually a trick sin.

It's Justin Timberlake.

I am quite positive that putting him on your poster will a) not attract the young kids who think he's hot and b) will probably unattract the adults that this movie appears to be targeted towards. He has not been in one single movie that could even possibly been deemed a "hit" (other than Shrek the Third, but that doesn't count) so I'm not even sure why people keep casting him. He provides nothing and he's not even a good actor. At least Beyonce gets hits.
