As you are surely aware the Australian film and television industry lost one of its greatest assets today with the passing of Charles "Bud" Tingwell. He appeared in so many things - this article says 144 film and TV credits - but will probably be most remembered for this role in "Australia's favourite film", The Castle.
A clip I've chosen to share, however, is from The Late Show's brilliant sketch "Charlie The Wonderdog" in the early 1990s. It really is hilarious and it was one of the things that helped bring Bud back to prominence after hitting his stride in movies like 'Breaker' Morant and the TV series Homicide in the '70s and early '80s. He would later go on to appear in movies such as the aforementioned The Castle, as well as Innocence and Jindabyne in a small role opposite Laura Linney. I wonder if Linney had any idea who she was acting opposite? Nevermind. You'll be missed Bud!
Tingwell has a small role in Matthew Newton's superb Three Blind Mice, which is due for release sometime this year.
