Planet Direct-to-DVD

Well, that's that then. Robert Rodriguez' half of Grindhouse has been confirmed to be going direct-to-DVD in Australia. I suspected as much, but still... there was always that ounce of hope, ya know? So now one of the finest horror flicks of the last few years (yeah, you heard me) will be going direct-to-DVD yet still have the packaging quote "AN INSTANT CLASSIC". Nice one. I still don't understand what's so hard to market about this movie. I can get the whole Grindhouse package being a tricky sell, but this is a zombie movie featuring a girl with a machine gun for a leg. I mean, really. WHAT'S SO HARD!?!

And to enhance to frustration they can't even give it a decent DVD cover! As you can see to the left, they have gone with the "direct-to-DVD" theme and given it a lame-arsed cover that just reeks of "Man, that looks shit. Let's get Saw 4". Nevertheless, it is released on March 5, alongside Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, which did get a cinema release.

Yet, Horror Remake #12049 starring absolutely nobody of name or value will surely get a release. Yay for the consumers!
