An Open Letter to Celine Dion

Dear Celine,

Can I call you Celine? Or would you prefer Princess Céline of the Canadian Commonwealth or something equally ridiculious and over-the-top? I just wanted to say "well done" on that whole Taking Chances thing you recently released. So, here it is: Well done! Actually, well done for the first seven tracks because after that I sort of trailed off, but those seven tracks are all surprisingly great. The album is certainly much better than the last few blah albums and that thing you did with Anne Geddes, whatever that was all about.

Well done on having the smarts to hire Delta(!, Adem) Goodrem to cowrite a track for you and to even get her to sing backup vocals because "Eyes On Me" is the second best song on there.

But, I would like you to take this advice: Please release "Alone" as the next single and not the drippy "A World to Believe In". Heart had a huge smash with the song 20 years ago and there's no reason why you can't have as just a big a hit with it now. It's massive and the final minute or so do more than enough to prove that you've "still got it" even if nothing you ever do for the rest of your career will even beat "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", which - let's face it - is your magnum opus. The song and the completely overwrought video clip (below) that accompanies it. Bless that video!

PS; If ticket prices weren't $400 me and my friends would totally go see you in concert just for the sure-to-be-huge hystrionics of "It's All Coming Back to Me Now"! Alas...
