Look, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Horror movies generally need "something extra" to sell their movies than just the usual floating heads or whatever design they chose to mimic that day. Going way back to the days where they only showed in grungy cinemas, they needed something to get the audience in more than hardhitting dramas or crowd-pleasing comedies. And in this day and age especially, if you don't get the horror crowds attention straight away you're pretty much done for.

That the makers of this House of Wax remake decided to cast Paris Hilton and a bevy of disturbingly attractive people curse the movie from the getgo (that and it's release date - horror movies don't sell in summer) so much so that this stunning poster couldn't get them to show up on opening weekend. But that doesn't stop the poster from being completely amazing. It does it's job perfectly, selling the premise (they turn people into wax statues) and doing so in a creepy and effective manner.

I'm a fan of the movie - ugh, I know, I just thought it was silly fun - and I know many hate it, but you can't deny it's not a superb poster. And I bet the designers got a kick out of turning Paris Hilton into a waxy corpse, too.
